New family of Rugged CAN interfaces designed for challenging environmental conditions

Responding to strong demand from customers that operate our interfaces in harsh environments, Kvaser has expanded the Rugged family of CAN to USB interfaces. Capable of operating where dust, moisture and extreme temperatures are par for the course, the Rugged interfaces are ideal for those performing remote diagnosis or troubleshooting in applications such as automotive, mining, marine, military, oil / gas exploration, industrial and heavy machinery.

All models within the Rugged interface range boast the same lightweight, yet highly durable, corrosion resistant aluminium alloy housing. Then there’s the heavy-duty polyurethane coating, which completely seals the unit and cabling to IP67 standard for water and dust ingress. Vibration, shock and drop proof, the Rugged range operates over an expanded temperature range from –40 to +85oC.

Rugged versions of Kvaser’s Leaf Light, Leaf SemiPro HS and Leaf Professional HS one channel CAN to USB interfaces are among the units available. These are complemented by the USBcan Rugged and Memorator R SemiPro, the latter of which has its SD-disk soldered to the PCB to enhance its vibration resistance.
