===================================== Release Notes for Kvaser Configurator ===================================== Device Support Table ============================================================================ Device Recommended Driver Recommended f/w ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kvaser Memorator CANLIB 3.7 2.7 (at least 2.5 is REQUIRED) Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 ============================================================================ This software requires that Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1 is installed on your computer. An English language version of the framework is included with the installation and can be installed at your option. If you are running another language version of Windows, e.g. German or Swedish, you can do either of a) proceed with installing the English version included here. You might then want to go to Windows Update (see the Tools menu in Internet Explorer) and download a language pack for your language and Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1. If you don't install the appropriate language pack, your computer will work just fine but some error messages from the .NET framework will be in English. b) go to Windows Update (see the Tools menu in Internet Explorer) and download a free version of the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 for your language. ============================================================================ List of known bugs and restrictions in this release of Kvaser Configurator ============================================================================ * The first time you start Kvaser Configurator it will need some 10-15 seconds to display its main window. This is because Windows is using the time to start up the Microsoft .NET Framework. * In some rare occation while trying to update the firmware from Kvaser Configurator the green LED on Kvaser Memorator will not be lit. No error message will be displayed even though the firmware update was not successful. If this happens, try again. ============================================================================ Release notes for Kvaser Configurator ============================================================================ Version 1.3a (Released 29-JUL-2005) =========================================================================== * The program now checks if "ExternalTrigger" is a part of the trigger expression. If it is, it must be the last term in the expression. That is, "ExternalTrigger || Trigger1 || Trigger2" is not valid, whereas "Trigger1 || Trigger2 || ExternalTrigger" is a valid expression. * A new version of the standalone file conversion program has been added. It's still a beta version so the old version is also included. Version 1.2d (Released 8-MAR-2005) =========================================================================== * Corrected problem where the DLC of a message was always set to 8 when a trigger was set to trigger on a signal in the message. The firmware then rejcted the message if its actual DLC was not 8. * It is no longer possible to open two databases with the same name on the same interface, because this would cause problems with the message and signal names not being unique. Version 1.2c (Released 27-DEC-2004) =========================================================================== * Small changes to the documentation. A shortcut on the start menu to the help file has been added. * The auto reset feature is turned off because it works unreliably on some systems causing the Memorator to reset when uploading large files. - The auto reset feature was intended to ensure the Memorator is reset after configuration even if the Disconnect button isn't pressed. Under normal circumstances the Memorator will reset anyway when the USB cable is removed. We recommend that you always press the Disconnect button after configuration in any case, to ensure the device goes into logging mode. Version 1.2 (Released 10-DEC-2004) =========================================================================== * Added stand-alone file converter. This program can convert from MDF and KME formats to CSV and/or DIAdem .DAT format. This file converter is available from the Tools (formerly Options) menu, and also from the Start menu in Windows. * The decimal separator for CSV files is now settable and defaults to '.' (period). * An extra column has been added to the CSV files (both formats) that contains the calendar time when the message was sent. Note that the real-time clock in Kvaser Memorator has a resolution of 2 seconds, so the calendar time in the files has the same resolution. * The "informational header" in the CSV files have been restructured and now uses the chosen separator character. * The time in the converted log files is now printed with 4 decimal places instead of 3. (The Kvaser Memorator hardware time-stamps with a resolution of 10 microseconds, but as a CAN message typically is 100 microseconds or longer, 4 decimal places should be enough.) * If there are several log files created at the same second, all except the first one will now be named: _. Previously they all got the same name. * Several improvements and fixes pertaining to the generation of file names in the extraction dialog. * When extracting just one file, you can now enter a output filename which will be used as-is, without trailing date or file number. * Fixed inability to open several database files in different directories. Also made sure it is impossible to open the same database file twice. * The "Flash LED" button will now flash the device LEDs three times for increased clarity. V1.1 (Released 11-NOV-2004) =========================================================================== * Added the ability to write KME files in the _old_ KME format. This is needed to read the files from Vector's CANalyzer and/or CANoe. * Fixed a problem where the Memorator would reset during lengthy operations, like when the Configurator connected to a Memorator where the disk wasn't properly closed. When this happened the Configurator would just terminate *poof* without any error message. V1.0 (Released 20-OCT-2004) =========================================================================== * This release replaces Kvaser Memorator Tools. * As this is a completely new release we don't provide a complete list of all that has been changed and improved since the last release of Kvaser Memorator Tools. The main improvments are: - The GUI is much improved. - Support for more complex triggers. - Support for more output file formats. - A new help section for Kvaser Configurator can be found in the help menu of the application. - The help document Kvaser Memorator User's Guide.pdf does only contain information about Kvaser Memorator and nothing about how to create configurations and log file conversion. Changes since the beta release of Kvaser Configurator 1.0 (June 2004) =========================================================================== - Support for Single Wire CAN. Kvaser Memorator will log wakeup frames and it is also possible to set wakeup frame as a trigger option. - Kvaser Memorator can be set in Highspeed transmisson mode (only needed for SWC). - It is possible to use the NERR flag as a trigger option. (Only for TJA1054) - The latest used file conversion format will be remembered for the next time Kvaser Configurator will be opened. - It is now possible to choose to work in hexadecimal or decimal mode during creation of configurations.
