ProblemI don't know if my CAN hardware is working properly. How can I test this?

SolutionTHIS TEST IS NOT SUITABLE FOR HARDWARES WITH HS/LS COMBINATION.
First make sure that your drivers are installed properly. This is done with these instructions. Click here for Win95/98/2k/XP If everything seems to be okay then proceed with the following instructions to find out if it's a problem with the KVASER hardware. Station A:First, let's have a look at the names of the different HW described:
These instructions are exemplified for the LAPcan, it could as well be USBcanII, PCIcan, PCIcan II and more but the instructions should be easy to follow for any hardware! Station B: The CANbus have the following pin configuration. You can read more about it here.
Station C: The simplest possible CAN bus is the connection described below with two terminator resistors connected like this; the connector layout is defined by CANopen and CiA (CAN in Automation).
That is, connect pin 2 to pin 2, pin 3 to pin 3, pin 7 to pin 7 (and
also pin 6 to pin 6; this is an extra optional ground connection that is
normally not used. The real ground pin is number 3) and connect a
termination resistor across pin 2 and 7 at each connector.
Station D: Run the program "simple.zip" (click to download). This program will test the communication between the two ports on your KVASER hardware. If this program fails your KVASER hardware is most likely broken - but if this test is working and you can not communicate with your CANbus-network which you would like to analyze you have some kind of problem with the CAN bus and not the KVASER CAN hardware! (It can be pin configuration, bus load, terminator resistance for example).
