Answer
Before you start this uninstallation
of the drivers
Remove / Unplug /
Eject all KVASER hardware from the computer!
1. Begin UNINSTALLING the driver using our cleanup-programs. Click
here for detailed instructions.
2. When the computer has re-started open the "Search" program
in Windows.
(Click "Start" -> "Search" -> "For
files or folders"). The following window will pop up:

3. Type "kvaser" in the "Containing text:" (see
point 1 in figure above) field. Setup the
"Look in:" (see point 2 in figure above) directory to "C:\WINNT\inf".
WinXP user should serach in "C:\WINDOWS\inf".
4. Click "Search Now". When the search is finished you will
see a list (see point 3 in figure above).
5. Open the Explorer and browse into the "C:\WINNT\inf"
(see point 2 in figure below).
This is a hidden file, if you can't see it (like in the figure below)
click "Tools -> Folder Options".
In the folder options you select view and under "Files and
folders"/"Show hidden files" radio button.

6. Delete the files that was displayed in the "search result
list" in point 4 of this document.
In this example the string "kvaser" was found in
"oem0.inf" and therefore oem0.inf and
corresponding oem0.PNF should be deleted.
REMEMBER TO DELETE BOTH THE oemXX.INF AND CORRESPONDING oemXX.PNF
Example: You
find the string "kvaser" in oem12.inf => delete
oem12.inf and oem12.pnf

7. If you don't have installation of a CANcardX of this
machine you may do the same
procedure again but search for the string "cancardx" instead of
"kvaser" in point 3 of this document.
8. When all this has been done try to install the drivers again, click
here for instructions.
| Still problems?
Even if your user account on your computer says that you have
ADMINISTRATOR rights it is possible for your system administrators
to disable the function to install DIGITALLY UN-SIGNED MICROSOFT
DRIVERS. (=You are only allowed to install digitally signed
drivers (they are signed by Microsoft). Since KVASER's drivers are
*not* digitally signed they will not be properly installed).
Browse to your WINNT\WINDOWS directory (usually "c:\WINNT\",
"c:\WINDOWS\")
and there you will find a file called "setupapi.log".
Search for "KVASER" (in this text file) and you will see
what went wrong during installation of the hardware.
Talk to your system administrator to give you full
rights if that is the problem!
If you still heave questions don't hesitate to contact support@kvaser.com. |
