Driver Removal Guide for Windows

This guide describes how to remove installed Kvaser drivers.

1. Identify appropriate cleanup program.
There are two different versions available:

"cleanup.exe"
"cleanup_vector.exe".

One way to identify appropriate cleanup program is to use the Driver Routine Removal Program Table shown below. Compare the CAN Hardware icons in the table with the CAN Hardware icon in your Control Panel.

Driver Routine Removal Program Table
Icon Program Comments
Driver Routine Removal Program for CANLIB 3.3 or newer.

Driver Routine Removal Program for CANLIB 3.2 or older.  Please note that "cleanup_vector.exe" will damage a CANcardX installation.

Driver Routine Removal Program for Vector-compatible drivers.  Please note that  "cleanup_vector.exe" will damage a CANcardX installation.

2. Download. Download the appropriate cleanup program from our Software Download Area [Support->Downloads]. If you got the Kvaser CD, insert the CD into the CD-ROM Driver. Your computer will automatically detect and start the Kvaser CD. Click "Browse the CD" | "Drivers".

3. Remove drivers. Run the cleanup program and follow the on-screen instructions. Restart the computer as directed by the cleanup program.

Finally, go to the "Control Panel" | "Add/Remove Programs". Select "Kvaser CAN Drivers (remove local copy only)". Click the "Change/Remove" button to remove the local copy.
