Driver Upgrade Guide for Windows

This guide describes how to upgrade existing drivers to CANLIB driver
package version
3.8. The information given here is also valid for other upgrades, since
the steps are basically the same.

1. Locate present CANLIB driver version. Open the Control Panel.
Double-click on the CAN
Hardware icon. Clicking on the "i"-button opens a window with information about present
CANLIB driver version.

|
|
2. Depending on the present CANLIB driver version. You must read
the entire section before you can proceed.
If your present CANLIB driver version is 3.4 or higher, go on to
step 6 in this guide.
If your present CANLIB driver version is
3.3 or lower, go on to step 3
in this guide.
If you have downloaded and installed the special
"Vector-replacing" driver from our web site, go on to step 3 in
this guide. This driver is what you will use if you must use CANalyzer/CANoe
version 4.1 (SP 1) or lower versions with Kvaser hardware.

3. Identify appropriate program. Use the "Driver Routine
Removal Program Table" shown below to identify the appropriate
cleanup
program.

4. Download. Download the appropriate cleanup
program
from our Software Download Area [Support->Download]. If you got the Kvaser CD, insert
the CD into the CD-ROM Driver and click "Browse the CD" and choose
"Drivers".

| 5. Remove drivers. Run the cleanup program
and follow the on-screen instructions. Restart the computer as
directed by the cleanup program. |

6. You are now ready to install CANLIB driver version 3.8. Download
CANLIB 3.8 from our Software Download Area [Support->Downloads]. Go back to the
Support Note Index. And follow the "Driver and Hardware Installation Guides For
Windows" note.
