There will be a new KVASER drivers package any day now which will solve
this problem automaticly ("non-conflicting-drivers") but until
then some hands on work has got to be done unfortunally.
Problem type 1:
It's impossible to change the baudrate in the CAN Driver
Configuration-window and the Vector logo is taken away and replaced with a
KVASER logo.
When KVASER hardware and the drivers are installed a file called vcanconf.exe
is replaced (on Windows 2000 enviroment the file is placed in
..:\WinNT\System32, (search for this file on you computer, you will find
it somewere). Unfortunally, by historical reasons, this is the same
file name as Vector uses in their installations.
When the KVASER drivers are installed you will be able to communicate with
the installed KVASER hardware (USBcanII, Memorator, PCIcan-family using
Hardware Info and so on (reading license bits, firmware versions) whitout
any problems but the CANcardX will behave stupid (you can not change the
bitrate for example)).
Solve the problem like this:
1. Unzip your driver-package shipped with your CANcardX or download the
latest version of the CANcardX drivers here:
http://www.vector-germany.com/support/index.html??drivers.php
2. Unzip this driver package and replace the installed vcanconf.exe (you
will find it in your System32 folder of your Windows installation most
likely) with the one available in the driver package for CANcardX from
Vector (you will find the file in teh zip-file).
Problem type 2:
If you still have problems with your CANcardX you can always reinstall the
drivers for this CANcardX without affecting the drivers for the KVASER HW
(Kvaser HW will only behave stange in the CAN Driver Configuration window
(you will not be able to read the licence-bits, set the bitrate and so on)
but you don't have to bother about this because this window is never
used by Kvaser software anyway (like "channel assign" used
by Vector and other stupid things :-)
(If you don't know how to reinstall the drivers for CANcardX you can
read the instuctions how to upgrade/change the drivers for the LAPcan card
but use the driver package from Vector (see above).
You will find the instructions here:
Upgrade
a installation of LAPcan I/II driver (Win98/2000/ME/XP)
... but keep in mind the changes you have to do:
Point 1: "Driver package from Vector" instead of
CANlib.
Point 3: CAN hardware -> CANcardX instead of LAPcanI/II (LAPcan is
replace with CANcardX in the rest of the document).
Point 9: filename is vector.inf instead of kvaser.inf).
