How to reinstall or upgrade the driversThis text describes how to tell Windows to really upgrade the device drivers for LAPcan, LAPcan II, PCcan, PCIcan, USBcan, etc. We'll show how to do it for LAPcan and Windows 98, but the procedure is similar for the other boards. The problem is that Windows tries to search for the "best" driver for your hardware and sometimes arrives at the conclusion that the present driver is the "best" although you know that the driver you want to install really is newer. Follow the steps below to mildly force Windows to install the new driver.

Step 1:Double-click on the System icon the the Control Panel.
Step 2:Locate the LAPcan (PCIcan, PCcan, USBcan, ...) card in the list of devices, and double-click on it.
Step 3:Click on the "Update Driver" button.
Step 4:You should now see this window. Click on the "Next" button.
Step 5:Be sure you select the second alternative here. If you go for the first alternative, Windows will search for what it thinks is a "better" driver.
Step 6:Click on the "Have Disk" button.
Step 7:Tell Windows where you have stored the new driver routines. Click OK.
Step 8:You are now back to this window. Click Next.
Step 9:Check that Window really understands which drivers to install. Click Next, and the installation/upgrade will begin.
Step 10:After finished installation, you will see this window.
