1.3 How to install Elans PCI-to-PCMCIA adapter (small guide)
|
|
1. Download their latest P-series driver package and run the
installation program (setup.exe)
2. Shut down the computer and install the hardware.
3. Restart the computer.
4. When Windows starts the "Found New Hardware" will pop up.
Let Windows search for suitable driver.

1. 5 Trouble shooter for the Kvaser LAPcan cards
|
|
In cases where you have successfully installed your LAPcan card. And
you have verified that the LAPcan card is operationally ready in the
Device Manager, i.e. not marked with a red check mark or an
exclamation mark on a yellow background. But for some reason "Kvaser Hardware" does not list the
device. Only the virtual channels show up. Follow the
"Trouble-shooter guide for the LAPcan cards" table shown
below.

Make sure you have installed the latest CANLIB

2. Resource filter for lapcan cards. |
|
In the directory
where the drivers are installed, typically:

2. ISA-to-PCMCIA adapters
|
|
If you want to use your LAPcan on a desktop PC, you might be
interested in the SCM Microsystem Inc's "SwapBox" series of
PCMCIA to ISA adapters.
|
|
If you don't want the front bay you can choose the
SBI-C2P instead; it has two rear slots. We have found these adapters
to work reliably on most systems. Here are some of the features:
- Plug&Play compatible with Windows 95/98/NT/2000
- Fits in 3.5" inch front bay or 5.25" with included
adapter (see picture above)
- The SwapBox itself doesn't require an IRQ
More detailed specifications of the SwapBox family can be found on SCM's
homepage, under "Products | Security" (http://www.scmmicro.com/security/swapbox.html).
