Installation instructions for Vector's DIAdem driver on LAPcan
|
|
|
This guide describes how to install a LAPcan card under DIAdem version 7
with Vector's DIAdem driver. The information given here should also be valid for
DIAdem version 6.
Please not that this guide is only valid for Vector's DIAdem driver.
If you want to use Kvaser's DIAdem driver, follow the "Installation
instructions for Kvaser's DIAdem driver on LAPcan" note.
|
|
- Install DIAdem version 6 or 7. Version 4 is 16-bit, and so out of the question.
- Install Kvaser's CANLIB driver package and your LAPcan card. Please
note that you must use the Vector compatible drivers.
- Install Vector's DIAdem drivers in the same directory as the
"DIAdem.exe"-file (you choose this in the setup-program when
installing the driver, typically C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 6).
- Add the CAN Driver DLL (here: E:\DIADEM6\CANdriver.dll) by clicking
the "Add button in the Registration List of GPI Extensions and
close the dialog".
- DIAdem will now restart.
- After DIAdem has restarted, press the DAC button (the one with the green board on it).
- Select Options | Single Value Processing | Configure Driver...
- Press New Entry, check the Hardware/Driver button and press OK.
- In the list on the left, select CANdriver and press OK.
- Optional: press the Info button to make a sanity test. A dialog with driver information should now display.
- Press Close.
- Press the Inputs(drivers) button in the vertical toolbar on the left. In the middle of the now appearing horizontal toolbar, a button labeled CAN in a red frame appears. Select it.
- Hooray! You now have a CAN block.
- Double-click on the CAN block. A CANdb editor now opens.
- To set the bit rate and so on, press the "Configure" button in the lower right corner.
- A configuration window now opens (the very same window as you get if you click on "CAN Hardware" in the Windows Control Panel).
- Right-click on the LAPcan channel you are going to use. Select DIAdem 1 or DIAdem 2.
- Back in the CANdb window, make sure the name displayed in the combobox in the lower right corner matches what you just selected in step
17.
