Ā Kvaserās CAN bus interfaces supported by MathWorks Vehicle Network ToolboxĀ Kvaser AB today announced that MathWorksā Vehicle Network Toolbox now fully supports Kvaser Controller Area Network (CAN) hardware interfaces, enabling an out-of-box, direct connection between MATLAB or Simulink and the CAN bus. Ā Mƶlndal, Sweden ā 7th April 2010 Ā Kvaser AB today announced that MathWorksā Vehicle Network Toolbox now fully supports Kvaser Controller Area Network (CAN) hardware interfaces, enabling an out-of-box, direct connection between MATLAB or Simulink and the CAN bus. Ā Developers simply connect an interface, such as Kvaserās Leaf USB to CAN device, to the CAN bus and plug the other end into a laptop running MATLAB and the Vehicle Network Toolbox to perform in-vehicle test and data analysis. Alternatively, a PC with Kvaser hardware and MathWorks software can easily be connected to an OBD-II port. A graphical user interface allows the user to view the CAN traffic and display the data; whilst encoding, decoding and filtering of CAN messages can all be performed from within the toolbox. Notably, the software allows users to work with industry-standard CAN database files. Ā Kvaserās CAN interfaces and software are well-known throughout the automotive sector. Engineers working on simulations, test cells and prototype vehicles use Kvaserās interfaces to collect and analyse data simply and efficiently. Ā Vehicle Network Toolbox software allows automotive engineers to send and receive CAN messages directly from MATLAB or Simulink. Test and analysis applications can be created in MATLAB using streaming CAN bus data. Similarly, streaming CAN data can be used to develop and verify algorithms designed in Simulink. Ā āEnabling the Vehicle Network Toolbox to work with Kvaserās hardware further simplifies the workflow for automotive engineers to test and verify designs,ā said Jon Friedman, automotive industry marketing manager, MathWorks. Ā Noted Lars-Berno Fredriksson, president of Kvaser: āEngineers need streaming, on-the-fly CAN bus analysis to determine how to optimize test procedures. Interoperability between the MathWorksā Vehicle Network Toolbox and Kvaserās hardware is good news for our customers, as well as the CAN ecosystem at large.ā Ā About Kvaser:With over 24 years of CAN development experience and more than 30 CAN-related products to their name, Kvaser AB (www.kvaser.com) is the CAN expert, bringing their deep knowledge in the field of CAN to industries that include Automotive, Avionics, Building Automation, Domestic Appliances, Hydraulic Equipment, Industrial Automation, Maritime, Medical, Military, Railway, Telecoms and Textiles.
